Concept
「記憶は堆積する。長く培われる記憶や想いは、根源を覆い
つくす層となり、その結果として人に拘りを生む。層を作り、彫り下げる行為を行う
ことで、個々として記憶をとらえ、記憶の層から解放し、
根源を導き出してゆく。人間とは何かという探求の果てにあるクリアなビジョンを。」
Memories accumulate. Memories and sentiments
accumulated over long
stretches of time create layers that cover one’s origins,
and consequently
generate one’s preferences. Through creation and the
delving through
these layers, the memories are captured individually, the accumulated
layers released, and one’s origins unveiled. This is a clear vision in seeking
what human beings are.

鎌倉時代より続く仏師の血筋。
800年続く伝統技の鎌倉彫を担う伝統継承者。
2000年に父三橋鎌嶺に師事。心の鍛錬と仏師の初心を得るため建長寺で禅を学び、2010年には建長寺吉田老師より「鎌幽」の号を拝銘。禅の祈り空間に必要な仏具制作や茶道具制作を中心とする、一方で自身の表現とするART作品も世界へ発信し、フランスのパリで個展を行うなど国内外で多岐にわたって活動中。
Kenyu Mitsuhashi is a descendant of Busshi, professional Japanese sculptors who in statues of Buddha. His family’s lineage originates in the 13th century, during what is known as the Kamakura Period. He is the successor of traditional Japanese art, Kamakura-Bori, with a history of 800 years.
In 2000, he studied under his father, Kenrei Mitsuhashi. To acquire his self-discipline and the original intent as a Busshi, he studied Zen(禅) at Kenchoji Temple, the oldest Zen training monastery in Japan. In 2010, he was given the title “KENYU” by the Zen master Yoshida from this temple.
He produces traditional tea utensils and Buddhist altar fittings as to represent Zen’s philosophy, while at the same time introduces his original, modern artworks to people worldwide, including at his solo exhibition in Paris.

伝統と革新
私の生きる世界では、よくこの言葉が使われます。使い古された言葉、とも感じるこの語句の並びですが、私はこれこそ自分の使命であると考えます。
鎌倉彫は、およそ800年前から脈々と技能伝承を行ってまいりました。変化せずにその歴史を紡いできたかと言えば、おそらく時代時代でその時々の「今」と立ち向かい、工夫して変化していった結果の積み重ねだと感じます。その工夫や変化の時にも、先達の技術と精神は伝承の重要な核として、800年の時の中で大きく育ててまいりました。
時流の早い現代では、この変化の速度に鎌倉彫も立ち向かわなければなりません。様々な工夫を行い、表現を体現し、「今」の声を取り入れつつ、けれども時代に翻弄されずに伝承の核をさらに大きく厚くしていかねばなりません。
三橋鎌幽の鎌倉彫は、自己の表現、先達の技術と精神、そして今の世界の声を反映させ、唯一無二の表現を表します。
